Ask for help with a clear request — Speaking Exercise
Workplace · Beginner · 1–2 minutes speaking
Ask a colleague or tutor for help after trying to solve a problem. Give enough context to make the request easy to respond to.

Plan your answer
Think in short notes rather than writing every sentence.
- What have you already tried?
- Where exactly are you stuck?
- What kind of help would be useful?
One way to begin
I tried both examples in the guide, but I am still unsure which rule applies here. Could you check my reasoning on this one step?
Illustrative opening. Use your own experience and words.
Try it out loud
Explain the context in two sentences, then make one request. Offer a reasonable time frame instead of implying everything is urgent.
Make a first attempt without stopping to fix every sentence. On the second take, change just one thing.
Use the free teleprompter →Listen back and reflect
Could the listener tell what help you wanted without asking you to start over?
If you record yourself, notice one sentence that worked and one place where a pause or simpler explanation would help.
